A few suggestions and improvements for animal feeding and farming.

 

1. Feeding an animal a higher tier food source than the animal should provide slight reductions in growth times.

 

1a. Feeding an animal a higher tier food source than the animal should require less food. (I realise both 1, and 1a would be a bit too OP but it should be one or the other really)

2. It should be possible to feed the animals some of the bi-products of animals - yes I know that direwolves/bears can be fed meat, but they should not be the only ones. (eg goat milk, or butchered meats)

 

3.. Goat kids should be able to use goat milk (i mean come on its a goat baby) and it should provide a short reduction in growth time.

 

4.. Feeding pigs should be possible with pretty much any food at all, pigs should also be able to be fed butchered chicken etc (pigs will honestly eat anything thats why they say never trust a pig farmer - goats are not picky either, I have seen one eat a car tyre) What I mean by any food at all is - raw/unrefined farmed resources (vegetables, wheat, meat, eggs, milk) and also crafted sandwiches, omlettes, soups etc etc.

 

5. Animals (such as pigs, horses and oxes) that produce no bi-product once matured could be fed to produce manure, manure can be applied to crops for a yield bonus, or a time reduction (or both perhaps)

5a. This would also provide another resource that people could focus on creating and putting on market. Some people might prefer to buy manure and get benefits rather than having to dedicate patches to providing manure.

 

6. Alchemists (or somebody at least) should be allowed to make fertilizer. Blood and Bone fertilizer requiring butchered animal parts, and wheat manure (for example)

Fertilizer would provide a growth time reduction, and a yield bonus.

6a. Similar to point 5a, this would provide another possible resource for the market

 

7. I should be able to feed T4+ horses/oxes until maturation in one click. Having to come back and tend to them every day is just really not necessary. If I have the food available in a stack, it should feed for the 48, 64 etc hrs in one go.

 

8. Animals should have a "preferred" food. (I mean hell you have this for feeding buildings but not animals). This preferred food might be something 1 tier above that animals tier. Or, some other logical way of organising their preferred food - oxes want corn, horses want wheat, chickens want anything vegetable....etc. This would tie in obviously, with the points mentioned earlier in food giving growth time reductions, or reductions in amounts of food needed.

 

PS please fix the shift+click option on animal feeding. It often does not feed to maturity, or overfeeds the animal.
