Think about this example from zimbabwe:

You travel to the place where you can get money from your bank. Unfortunately it will take 2 days to get it.

 

Two days later you get back with one million dollars, but then the locals ask you 3 million dollars for the tire instead.

This is called: hyperinflation.

 

In such economy you get the feeling that one days work is useless, because the money you earn today is going to buy absolutely nothing tomorrow.

It can destroy games as well, because it gives people the feeling that they can't achieve something ingame, because it is getting more expensive by the minute to get it. One of the reasons diablo 3 auction house was a farce was the amount of botters using computer ai to play the game for them and earn sick amounts of gold to sell for real money. The result was that it was impossible to get the gear you wanted, simply because it was selling for 1000 billion, while you where only able to earn 1m an hour. Obviously it wasn't the best of ingame economies to make progression.

 

The importance of price- stability is big, and that is why most games would use money sinks, to make sure that the amount of silver doesn't grow to fast compared to the produced goods and the amount of players. This is also why the goldprice is going through the roof, because the amount of ingame silver is going through the roof, while the amount of gold is stable, or reducing because of the buying of premium memberships..

 

Albion online seems to be having another problem as well and that is hyperdeflation on the auction houses. A mount was worth 70k during day 1 after the release and now you buy the same mount for 1500. Everybody is only buying gold and nothing but gold and players are willing to sell things below its worth to get more gold before anybody else buys it. It means that it is not worth producing anything at the moment, nor is it worth to buy anything on the auction house. This is also because of the next wipe by the way...

 

Another question: Can we plz have more marketinformation showing in UI? The more the better..
